The Termite Journey
The art pieces presented below were initially plain sheets of watercolour paper stored in my high school art classroom. In this dry and isolated place, they were safely tucked away from any kind of damage.
The only problem is that nobody would have thought that termites would set off on a journey to find this delicacy. Their one-year journey led them through murram, brick, concrete and cement!
Their victory was short-lived and they only had enough time to eat through a few sheets of the thick watercolour paper before we noticed. The pages were going to be thrown away, but I saw the opportunity to turn them into something special.
The unique patterns they created gave the paper a character of its own! With the help of bright colours and a frame, they were ready to be exhibited. This way, their story can be told.
